Mod 1 - Core Concept - Price AND Time

Step 1.0: See the End Result First

Step 1.1: The Core Lesson

The `viditrade` methodology is built on a simple but powerful principle: Price action, by itself, is like one hand clapping. Overlaying a timing element is like adding the other hand.

The Two Outcomes of a Test: Traction vs. Isolation

First, let’s look at what happens when price probes a relevant level (like a prior day’s high, or any relevant price or price action). Did that probe trigger, or did its attempt fail? The answer is open-ended, unless we apply a deadline. For example, let’s consider the end of the volatile first 15 minutes (1st-15) of the session—this deadline is what I call a timing window.

  • Traction: If price probes beyond a relevant level and maintains that probe when the timing window lapses, I call that gaining traction. This is a successful test.
  • Isolation: If price probes beyond a relevant level but then retraces back to the original side of that level when the timing window lapses, it has failed to gain traction. I call this isolation. This is a failed test.

Knowing whether a breakout is real (Traction) or fake (Isolation) is what the `Price + Time` analysis accomplishes.
